Child Development Center (CDC) - The Child Development Center is a modern facility located in Building 5182 at 2449 French Creek Drive. The center is a nationally accredited early childhood program which offers developmentally appropriate child care and preschool (Sept-May). The Eielson AFB CDC offers a safe environment with a professional staff that is caring, loving and happy.

 

*Eligibility - Care is provided for the dependents of active duty and DoD Civilians. The Center accepts children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. A priority for use system has been established at base level per AFI 34-701.  Waiting time will vary according to family status.

 

*Programs Offered - Available programs include, weekly care, drop-in care and a preschool program. Reservations for drop ins are made on a first come first served basis, depending on availability. Full Time Hourly Care - Designed to provide up to 50 hours of care per week, Monday-Friday. This program has a complete developmental program for children and involves children whose parents are both employed or live with one parent.

 

Hourly Drop-in Care - Space is limited to daily availability. Contact us at 907-377-3237 for assistance in meeting your hourly care needs.

 

*Hours of Operation - The center is open Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with extended hours during exercises. The center is closed on federal holidays.

 

*Respite Care - On certain weekends respite care is offered through the Give Parents a Break program. 

 

*Fees - Fees are determined on a sliding fee scale based on the current year family income. Breakfast, Lunch and snacks are available at no extra charge.

 

*School Age Program (SAP) - Eielson School Age Program, located in building 3303, is a full service child care program for children 5-12 years of age providing service in the hours before and after school. The School Age Program adjusts to full day programming during summer, winter and spring breaks, in-service days, and opens early for early school release days. Nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation, we maintain the highest quality of programming available to school age children. As a Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H affiliate, the program benefits from opportunities for many of these national program's curriculum, club activities, national competitions, grants, and training. We offer diverse opportunities that foster growth and development of school agers based on their interests. Clubs are offered in numerous areas that focus on life skills, academic success, and healthy habits.

We have the capacity for 115 children.

The program is open Mon-Fri from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  It is closed on Federal holidays and for official Family Days.

*Family Child Care (FCC) - The family child care program offers parents an alternative to the base child development center. The program includes care for families that need full-time, part-time, hourly evening and weekend care. On average there are 15 certified FCC homes for parents working shifts, children with special needs, infant care, children who are susceptible to illness and children who feel more comfortable in smaller groups. The program trains, licenses and inspects family childcare homes to insure the quality of care is in compliance with Air Force standards. The FCC also coordinates special family care such as extended duty care, PCS care, returning home care and subsidy care. Each provider establishes fees.
