Recreational Facilities
On base MWR and the Public Affairs Office sponsor activities.
Activities vary according to the season and are usually focused on local culture and tradition.
All Teen Activities are scheduled by Youth Activities Center.
After School Programs: Supervised Recreational Programs,
Projects Games, and Summer & Vacation Full Day Camps are all run by MWR.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast area is rich with tradition, culture and marvelous foods. It offers a variety of activities to suit most every interest and hobby.
NCBC, Gulfport is located in the heart Gulfport, MS. We are situated between the large cities of Mobile, AL (60 miles away) and New Orleans, LA (70 miles away). The surrounding towns to the east of NCBC, Gulfport includes Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula and Moss Point. To the west are the cities of Long Beach, Pass Christian and Bay St Louis. Most members stationed here choose to live in Ocean Springs, Biloxi, or Gulfport.
New Orleans offers many museums and activities and is about an hour drive. D-Day Museum, Six Flags Amusement Park, Zoo, Oceanarium, the French Quarter and Garden District are all activities located in New Orleans.
Mardi Gras events can be enjoyed anywhere from Mobile, AL to New Orleans during late January and early February. Each of the Mississippi Gulf Coast communities hosts a variety of Mardi Gras related events.
