The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department is an essential part of Naval Station Mayport. Services have been designed to provide maximum enjoyment of you and your family's leisure time while stationed at Naval Station Mayport. By providing excellent facilities, programs, and activities, we hope to make your stay at Naval Station Mayport a more enjoyable experience.
MWR Admin is located on the second floor of Bldg. 414. The Director, Deputy Director, MWR Admin., Athletic Director, Military Support and the Event's Coordinator's offices are located there. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 0730 - 1600.
MWR's business office is located on the ground floor along with the Personnel Office, Purchasing Office, Media Center, MWR Maintenance, Information, Tickets and Tours, and Fleet Recreation. Hours of operation for all offices is 0730 - 1600 except for the Information and, Ticket and Tours office which are 0900 - 1700. See "Things to Do - Recreation and Sports". The Youth Activities Center consists of many different programs to accommodate youth affiliated with Naval Station Mayport.
School Age Care (SAC) is available for military and DOD personnel. Children, age's kindergarten to twelve years. Transportation is provided to and from Mayport and Finegan Elementary School. Trained personnel help children with homework, arts & crafts, nature, and other activities.
Sand Dollar Summer Day Camp, Jingle Bell Christmas Camp, and Easter Fun Camp are three programs provided by the Center. Summer Camp is 11 weeks long, consisting of swimming, arts&crafts, nature hikes, bowling, and field trips. Christmas Camp lasts two weeks and Easter Camp lasts one week.
Other programs provided by Youth Activities are pre-teen and teen programs, Martial arts, pre-school gymnastics, dance classes, open recreation, skating, gymnastics, karate, field trips, and a game room. Naval Station Mayport religious activities are broad based and include Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and Islamic services. There are active youth groups within the denominations.
