Hampton Roads celebrates an array of fun and interesting events throughout the year. See below for hints of things to do.The Virginia Beach Visitor's Information Center, located near the Pavillion, offers valuable information, pamphlets, and directions to cultural and recreational areas in the local and surrounding area. For hours of operation, call (757) 437-4888. The Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Department is another source of information. They can be reached at (757) 471-5884.
Virginia Beach has three National Wildlife refuges. Within the city limits are 51 miles of bike paths, 6 community recreation centers, and 187 district, community and neighborhood City Parks. Virginia Beach also boasts 210 tennis Courts, 54 public access marinas, nine public access golf courses, and 15 designated historic sites.Hampton Roads area Navy MWR facilities cover a huge range of activities. In addition to the usual services such as gym and bowling facilities, movie theaters and so on, Hampton Roads Navy facilities offer several 9 and 18 hole golf courses, a sailing club and riding stables. For information on services available, reservations for tee times, equipment rentals, ball fields, pool parties and picnic areas, opening hours of gyms, fitness centers, beaches and fitness trails contact one of the MWR offices below.
