Check-in Procedures

Inprocessing Procedures

  • Installation In-processing Checklists must be obtained from the individual commands. Your duty office may have additional requirements for In-processing.
  • During Duty Hours:
    • Army Sustainment Command, HHCor DMC, Joint Munitions Command (JMC), or Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (JMTC) assignees should report to the ASC HHC Orderly Room in Bldg 390, Basement, SW wing.
    • First Army personnel : Upon arrival at RIA, report directly to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment (HHD), BLDG 68, 2932 Rodman Avenue, to begin initial unit in-processing. Orderly Room hours of operations are 0900-1700, Monday-Friday; phone number: (309) 782-9227. You can also contact the First Army LNO at (404)-839-0766. If you arrive after duty hours, on a weekend or holiday, please report to HHD at 0900 on the next duty day.
    • CBWTU personnel should report to the unit located in BLDG 350, Door 4, 5th floor, Northwest Corner.
  • After Duty Hours: No CQ/Orderly Room is available, report on the next duty day.
    • It is important that all active duty sponsors meet with the Health Benefits Advisor to ensure that they are enrolled in the proper TRICARE region. Rock Island Arsenal is considered a Prime location. The Health Benefits Advisor is located in Rock Island Arsenal Health Clinic, BLDG 110, East Wing, Basement. Appointments are encouraged, and will take priority over walk-ins.
    • Tenant units will coordinate Newcomers' Orientation for their newcomers, Military Personnel, Military Family Members and New Civilian Personnel with Relocation Program. Contact the Relocation Program Manager at 309-782-0816 for more information and dates scheduled for your unit.
  • Civilians
    • All employees who have relocated from another government installation to the Rock Island Arsenal should meet with the Benefits Advisor and the Permanent Change of Station Officer in the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center located in Building 104, 1st Floor. Civilian personnel reporting for their in-processing brief should come to Bldg 102, 2nd floor, West, Classrooms 1 or 2.
  • Important Documents to Hand Carry for Inprocessing
    • Do not forget to have the following relevant documents with you while moving: several copies of your PCS orders, official birth certificates, immunization records, school transcripts, medical/dental records, wills, power of attorney, marriage license, divorce decree, adoption decree, naturalization papers, social security cards, car title and shipping papers (if coming from overseas), car insurance policy information, driver's license, car registration, household goods shipping inventory, employment records and references, and pet records.
  • Travel Planning
    • Rock Island Arsenal does not have a Temporary Lodging Facility. Many hotels in the area offer rooms at the military rate. Some hotels also offer kitchen suites if you prefer to cook rather than dining out. Your sponsor will have a list of hotels, or for more information, consult http://www.riamwr.com/local-hotels/.
  • What to do if you get married enroute
    • If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedure exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
