Activities


There are so many activities for each and every military base that we’re asking for your help and listing them.  So please tell us what you think the next person PCSing to your location should know about activities on or off base for you and your family. 

The Mount Olive community, approximately 20 miles from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and Goldsboro, North Carolina, celebrate a yearly Old-Fashioned Fourth of July with children's activities, food and fireworks, at Westbrook Park (919)658-3113.

The annual "Putting Up" Day, 5 August, at Charles B. Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site will show demonstrations of canning and fruit drying techniques.  Call (919)242-5581.

The festive and beautiful Christmas Parade is held in downtown Mount Olive.  Call (919) 685-3113. Goldsboro is perfectly located - the centerpiece of Wayne County, which is comprised of several communities.  Mount Olive is the second largest town and is known for its famed Mount Olive Pickles.  Fremont, located about 14 miles from Goldsboro, continues to attract newcomers, particularly young residents.

Within a day's drive of Seymour Johnson are the Blue Ridge and Great Smokie Mountains, the Outer banks and beaches on the Atlantic Ocean; Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina.
